Dr. Njoroge is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of addiction and various psychiatric concerns including depression, anxiety, insomnia, bipolar illness and psychosis. He practices evidence-based medication-assisted treatment for addiction. Understanding that medication is just one component of comprehensive care, Dr. Njoroge also uses non-medication treatment modalities like psychoanalytic psychotherapy and behavioral therapy for insomnia. Driven by a lifelong passion for empowering others and a strong belief that psychiatric diagnoses, including addiction, are treatable medical diseases, Dr. Njoroge dedicated his career to psychiatry. He is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland and serves as the assistant medical director at OHSU’s culturally specific practice for the African and African American community. Dr. Njoroge emphasizes a patient-centered and trauma-informed approach to help individuals achieve long-lasting recovery and reclaim their quality of life. He tailors his treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient, ensuring a holistic and compassionate approach to care.
